You need a MySQL 9.7 server that you run yourself, on Windows x64 or on Linux x86_64 with glibc 2.35 or newer, at a patch that has a plugin file in the releases repository. Managed MySQL services such as Amazon RDS and Aurora can't load it.

What's in the download
- MySQL plugin for
ENGINE=AXIALDB. Each MySQL 9.7 patch gets its own plugin file. 9.7.0 is the first. The quickstart has you runSELECT VERSION()and copyha_axialdb-<version>-windows-x64.dllorha_axialdb-<version>-linux-x64.sointo the plugin directory. If that file is not in the releases repository, that MySQL patch is not supported yet. axialdb-engine, the service that stores views and answers analytical queries.- Live views on one table, or a fact table joined to its dimensions, with a primary key.

How to try it
- Download the release from GitHub.
- Install it on a staging copy of your MySQL first, using the quickstart.
- Create a view over the tables behind your slowest report.
- Run the report against the view and compare.
- When you need more than 5 views, write to us for a license file.
Common questions
Does the free version expire?
No. It stays free, limited to 5 views, 2 of them live.
Can I run the free version in production?
Yes, that's your call. This release was tested on Windows 11 and on Ubuntu 26.04 under WSL2, including long CDC
runs under load, and AxialDB never writes to your InnoDB tables. Those machines are described on the
measurements page. They are not every Linux distribution. Because the free version
comes without a support agreement, it is provided as-is under our
terms of use, and we can't accept liability for your systems or data. Try it on staging first and
keep your usual backups. If you want us behind a production rollout, a license includes a
support agreement.
Does it work on Amazon RDS, Aurora, or another managed MySQL?
No. AxialDB is a storage-engine plugin, and managed MySQL services, including Azure Database
for MySQL and Cloud SQL, don't let you install one. You need a MySQL 9.7 server you run yourself,
on a VM or your own hardware.
What happens when I create a 6th view, or a 3rd live one?
The create is refused with a clear message. Nothing else changes.
Can I connect Tableau or Power BI on the free version?
Not from this download. Any MySQL client can query the views. An ODBC driver is not included.
